Albumin (human serum albumin)

In June 1997, we asked the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare to conduct a follow-up survey on patients of Crautzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD) who had used dura maters.

After that, it was suspected that CJD could be transmitted through Albumin.
Therefore,we submitted an open question to MHLW,in February 1999.

Four cases of variant CJD following erythrocyte transfusion were reported in England up until January 2007, but no onset of symptoms follwing the introduction of blood plasma fractions have been confirmed. Since the incubation period of the CJD pathogen is extremely long,it is need to continue to survey this issue closely.
